Focus…NOW!
Often we complain about how we are spread so thin, personally and professionally. Our tasks at work take us all over the place and that is before we are balancing what we are doing with family and friends. It can be difficult to remember that focus is key, personally and professionally. In your role as a B2B marketer, no matter how many hats and tasks you have laid out on that Post-it note in front of you, focus will always bring more success. When you add focus to your marketing campaigns you help ensure that you are providing a valuable resource to your community, not simply pushing information out in a broad manner.
Go through each of your major marketing campaigns you have planned for this Fall and see if they have focus, give them this litmus test:
- Will my community come away from this campaign having learned something that will help them do their job better?
- Am I using messaging that is not only recognizable to my community, but in fact used by them during their day?
- Will this campaign fit into your community’s timetable, including the amount of time you are asking of them?
- Have you integrated your other campaigns in order to take advantage of the people and materials you have in-house?
- Are you using all the resources at your disposal? Have you asked all the other departments what tools they use before spending your own budget dollars?
The point is you have to refine the way you are thinking in these days of tight budgets and so much loud noise.
